Whirling Dervish (wurl-ing dur-vish) n. 1. A mystical
dancer who stands between the material and cosmic
worlds. His dance is part of a sacred ceremony
in which the dervish rotates in a precise rhythm.
He represents the earth revolving on its axis while
orbiting the sun. The purpose of the ritual whirling
is for the dervish to empty himself of all distracting
thoughts, placing him in trance; released from
his body he conquers dizziness.

Gregangelo's Whirling Circus Dervish.
n. 1. A circus version of the sacred dance combining
ancient, contemporary, and futuristic media. The dance
depicts the creation of the Universe through a spinning
series of fantastic formations, metamorphoses, elaborate
costumes, and rhythmic dance. 2. A figure of speech
used in reference to one who exhibits vigorous energy.

a fact you might find intiresting: driver of the giant pink hummer is infact a dark haired(with a few highlights), skinny, latin-looking girl who happens do be as dumb as they come and also a stripper. How do i know this? Two of my girlfriends in biology have her in their other classes and have confirmed identity.

Veeeeery interesting. The always late to my math class girl kinda meets that description. Do you think your two girlfriends could get a picture of her?

perhaps, another option would be you taking a picture on your trusty camera phone and sending it to me so i could show them. but i'll ask if they have camera phones.

*snicker* Poor Hummer Girl is getting all stalked...

I saw the coolest performance of Whirling Dervishes (the real, religious ones) at the Folk Music Festival a couple years ago... was very confused, pre-show, to see a woman wandering around the stage dumping a couple containers of baby powder all over, but when they started moving in their bare feet, I understood everything.

I'm tempted to go find you a retro Schoolgirl Barbie... the one who tosses her hair and says "Math's tough!" *grin*

X.

FUN FACT: The MOON does not rotate on its axis while orbiting the Earth. It has a "geosynchronous rotation", which allows one of its sides to constantly face the Earth throughout orbit. That is how we get a "near side" of the Moon (the visible side) and a "far side" (or "dark side", according to Pink Floyd, but there is not actually a dark side of the Moon).
